David V5 extended mode: need alignment?

I am preparing for the upgrade to V. 5

In extended dual camera mode, are both scans (one from each camera) correctly placed in 3D space in relation to one another ?

Or do they need further alignment?

Re: Pointgrey Grasshopper3 3.2 MP

I found this site that gives you quick specs for regular DSLR:

http://www.digicamdb.com/specs/canon_eos-80d/

The PointGrey is 3.45 µm pixel pitch
GH4 3.74 µm
Canon 80d 3.73 µm

It is going to be a problem finding a good lens.

Re: Pointgrey Grasshopper3 3.2 MP

I get your point. I was think of "cheating" actually by putting a DSLR or 4/3 prime lens on the cameras. I assumed that the much higher pixel count on those cameras (16meg-24meg) would force the manufacturers to build lens that could resolve such a high resolution and would be way above th...

Re: Oteck's Arca swiss style setup

I am a bit confused. I was under the impression that focal length was not very important, as long as it was a quality lens. I use the Canon 60 mm macro on the GH4 and I did not notice any specific problem. Of course, I cannot keep the camera aligned with the projector. The camera has an extra rail t...

Re: Pointgrey Grasshopper3 3.2 MP

I don't doubt the quality should be very high. This camera has 60% more pixels then a full hd camera and 120 fps. Maybe too much for David actually. I am concerned that they would not work at all with David. There was a thread back in 2015 with someone having a connection problem with another Pointg...

Pointgrey Grasshopper3 3.2 MP

Two Pointgrey Grasshopper3 USB3, 2048 x 1536 / 121 FPS, global shutter cameras are on sale.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to return them and I don't see any useful information on the old David Forum.

Anybody tested one ?

Re: µ Rig of the week

Indeed, it's a completely different price range then the Vivitar. On Ebay, I see some going for over $ 250.- (just a lens filter). To improve, I must get one. On the site you mentionned, could you point me to the correct section ? There is a lot of choice. Is there a way to calculate how close I wil...

Re: µ Rig of the week

I am afraid that the close-up lens have too much deformation for David to handle correctly, I purchased: Vivitar +1 +2 +4 +10 Close-Up Macro (58mm) I had hoped that with such a wide diameter (58 mm), the center of the lens would be sharp enough without excessive deformation. I am not sure of the dis...

Re: µ Rig of the week

Hi Micr0,

Do you have an extra lens in front of the projector ?

I have been having problems with alignment and fusion. I believe it is coming from distortion of the close-up lens.
