Projector lenses etc.

Has anyone given any though to changing the lens on you projector? specifically something Sven said a while back about most projector lenses being cheap and the week link in this whole system. I was thinking specifically of doing it to not only increase the throw of my projector to better match my c...

The Optomise Dual Camrea Setting?

I found something very interesting and distressing with David 5 this evening. It's distressing because I think it highlights a flaw in David 5 but without being able to tale do someone from David there is know way of knowing. I have no doubt that posting this over at the HP forum would be met with s...

Re: Pointgrey Grasshopper3 3.2 MP

Just received the two Point Grey :) I have not purchased the lens yet, so I am 3D printing a Canon to C-mount adaptor just to test. Without lens, I was able to connect to David. It's looking good ...(I am keeping my fongers crossed). Jeff Once you get your fongers crossed be careful. It is very har...

Re: David V5 extended mode: need alignment?

I'm guessing their optimizing the stereo but if they did a post alignment after scan and combined would be nice I have also found that using the optimize dual camera calibration feature (even with dual cameras) gives distorted scans. I never did get an answer as to why and I have no idea if they ar...

Re: David V5 extended mode: need alignment?

The first "scan" produces 2 scans in shape fusion. I align them to each other using "pairwise fine" Then I align scans all the scans from Camera A to previous scans from camera A and likewise from camera B. So scan 1 and 2 get aligned to each other. Then Scan 3 to 1 and 4 to 2, 5...

Re: Pointgrey Grasshopper3 3.2 MP

I finally found the information : 4µm for that lens. As you mentioned, their other lens with 2.5µm pitch are above $400.- If only I could test it before committing.... Jeff I started with a lens that was spec'ed by my cameras manufacturer and was rated at 5mp. It was nowhere near as good as the len...

Re: Pointgrey Grasshopper3 3.2 MP

I finally purchased the two PointGrey Grasshopper for $ 580 for both. I hope they will work correctly with David. PointGrey tech support was amazing. I wrote to them. They went and downloaded David to test the camera model. Now I will go lens hunting. PointGrey has this lens as compatible with that...

Re: David V5 extended mode: need alignment?

Yes and no. They are relative but not completely aligned. I find it is necessary to run pairwise fine on the first two, then aligning every subsequent to these.

Re: Oteck's Arca swiss style setup

There is no ideal as far as scan quality goes. However with neutral lenses (50mm in the SLR world) you would have less lens distortion organically. Also, the problem I had was that slightly telephoto lenses forced me to mount the cameras behind the projector which caused other problems.
