Re: Can someone explain photogrammetry?
I think you are correct. Indeed, uniform surfaces are not ideal. But when using RAW format, you can boost the contrast a lot, which can help the software to create a better model. I want to also try: Soft sandblasting of the model model Speckle painting the model Try polarizing filters on lamps and ...

Re: David 5.2
Extended mode or stereo mode ?
If extended mode, do you still need to adjust a1 to a2 , b1 to b2, etc...
Thanks,
Jeff

Re: Grainy Scan troubleshooting
1) Proceeded to fusion. This step often blends and removes some surface artifacts. Try different resolutions. 2) What happens when using the same setup on a very mat surface. Plastic can be shiny, which also induces surface artifacts. 3) Reduce brightness of projector a bit 4) Use optimal f-stop Mus...

Re: Testing Photoscan
Another test with a large item. A wood mask. I think it is a good alternative to David, when the main purpose is presentation on the web or things like that. I really enjoy the time saving for the operator once the workflow is mastered. The mask against the grey background is the 3D model with textu...

Re: Online 3D Viewer
Shapeways is 3D printing company. I don't think they offer something like that.
On the other hand, sketchfab does. It has a pro account that allows password protected viewing.

Re: Testing Photoscan
It's actually scary, because the model from photoscan has no scale. I did a very rough up scale using meshlab. Highly inaccurate. Nevertheless, David was able to overlap them with "free align" (ok, the dimensions are not perfectly identical.) Yellow: Photoscan Purple: David with GH4 (full ...

@ Micr0 After a crash, I lost some of my trial scans some time ago. Here is a photo from the old forum. I will make a test with David soon. "From left to right Canon Live view Canon image grabber 21 patterns Nikon fullHD + Blackmagic Intensity Pro 4K HDMI capture card GH4 4k + Inogeni 4K HDMI c...

Testing Photoscan
I have poor memories of trying Photogrammetry before using David (HP 3D). I have now given it a try with Photoscan and my famous plastic gorilla. I modified Walter's turntable to add automatic continuous rotation and a IR emitter to trigger my Canon camera. Computing time is very long, but actual sc...

Re: Projecting an SLS system: Scanning precision
There could be some confusion about "Clean HDMI". It is usually means that the image is transferred without overlapping information like shutter speed, exposure, etc. I does not refere to the type of signal. Even though its seems obvious that a clean output should be able available, it's o...
