Re: David 5 VS Flexscan3d
From what I could tell 3DLMI isn't selling the software without their hardware. Their hardware uses the Point Grey cameras and the Nikon or Cannon DSLR's are used for color/texture maps. I was going to reach out to one of their VAR's and see if I could get more info and possibly a demo. I'll post if...

Re: Can David do Automatic ََAlignment?
"Please look at Manual Scan Sequence mode. All scans made during a sequence will be automatically "aligned to previous"." This is what Seven says on the forum, so that means auto alignment is available in V5? I don't have David available for anytime soon, so I can't try. please ...

More Ranting about Davids Calibration
The more I see other configurable SL systems the more I have to wonder. With David, when calibration is perfect I can get results that are literally as good as $40k~$60K systems. However that is a big variable. I can get usable calibration easily but really good takes a lot of care. the more SL 3D s...

Re: Can someone explain photogrammetry?
After replying to the question of 3dxcan, I realized that I have a very weak understanding of photogrammetry. Maybe someone can help me out? My understanding of photogrammetry is, that basically you take several photographs of the surface to be reconstructed from different positions. The algorithm ...

Re: what is the advantage of 2nd cam in David?
Is it necessary? No. Does it help? Yes. Think of it this way, the more variables you remove from the system the fewer things that can go wrong.WaldoPepper wrote: ↑23 Jun 2017, 08:26 One question: is it necessary to have two identical cameras & lenses?

Re: Camera Resolution Test
Back for some more testing. It's now apparent that at very high resolution it will cause some serious cpu processing to run. I don't believe any upgrade will do as this is pure processing power to get gigs of scans in stereo. A single stereo scan would take literally 5 minutes to get past the proce...

Re: Not Correct Calibration
How did you make those panels? As I posted elsewhere I just mad some 280mm panels and ran into some interesting calibration problems. I don't know if they are related but I plan to spend some time today and see if can figure out whats going on.

New 280mm Panels
Started making a new set of 280mm panels today. I wanted to try to improve over my previous 300mm panels that were made on a vinyl cutter. The weakest part of this was that I had to hand register the cut vinyl dots by lining up registration marks. Not very accurate. this time I'm printing both panel...
