I've been interested in the LG HF80J
I may try to get one from said local retailer to try out. Thoughts?
I think I'm going to start a new thread about this. It deserves it's own thread in Hardware.

Re: Aluminium cast accessory RE
Do you have access to that laser projector yet? I "borrowed" them From a store here that has a 30 day return policy. For that reason my time with them was limited and I didn't get too much time to play with them. It was a while ago and some new better laser based projectors have come out....

Re: scanning wioth markers
in case of the cylhead they are really useful, because the structure of the heatsink makes it really hard to align single scans based on surface features... calibration ist still important for sure. i do 360deg with markers, align the scans, merge them, delete markers. move to a different angle sca...

Re: Aluminium cast accessory RE
Can you elaborate on why you say these projectors don't produce a stable pattern and what you modified to fix that? I admit, I know almost nothing on the projector side of our system. One thing is the colorwheel. It is a mechanical parts. Projector try to adjust its position, but it isn't accurate ...

Re: scanning wioth markers
I've never used stick on markers with David. I have used them with the Eva to scan featureless surface surfaces. in my understanding they would only really be useful when stuck directly the subject. The reason is the same reason I stopped using spheres (with David) they tended to fall outside of the...

Re: Aluminium cast accessory RE
Hi. Very good scans. can I know what projector are you using for your setup? I've do lots of research on alignment problems on low-end structured light 3D Scanning system. If your calib panel is made accurately, all of your problems are coming from projector. For example HP3d Scanner and also Flexs...

A Comparison of David and Artec Eva
This is an older scan of mine done with David 4, an optoma ML550 projector and one Imaging source 173 camera. Next is an Artec Eva with artec Studio 12.1. Same scan subject. BlockWatermark1.jpg And here is the Eva scan: Block Eva Watermark2.jpg FYI this was manually processed in Studio 12 using shar...

Re: Custom Resolution Utility
Thanks, This could be useful. As for the lines, try scanning something other than the calibration panels. I found that even though I had lines when scanning the panels I was able to get very good smooth scans. The more I work with other systems the more I realize that objects with large flat surface...

Re: Editing Scans/Editing Meshes
Should the holes be left un-filled during fusion then try to fill them with some other tool like MeshMixer or Geomagic? Or should the holes be filled by fusion and edited in another tool to make it match the surrounding surface? Yes. Look at mesh lab. Defeature is the function of removing bumps and...
