Re: partwise scanning

you must use all whole scans with big portion of overlaps.
I use dual setup. and for good calibration: you can check accuracy of calibration when you are aligning scans. with a good calibration all scans must align completely with minimum deviation.

Projector error and solution

Hi. After several test and getting mesh distortion, I think the problem is the projector. because when I use dual cam setup, distortion is reduced (dual setup can eliminate or reduce a portion of errors caused by projector). can any one confirm some type of projector or projector lenses can make dis...

Re: partwise scanning

I have a 160mm calib panel and scan object larger than 1m. The goal is to have a very good calibrated setup and scan object partially and aligned scans together.

What cares should be taken for Perfect Calibration

Hi. I think HP/David Scanner has a very near relation to environment conditions. Sometimes I get very very good accuracy (on a special unique object) and sometimes very bad deformation on mesh. Any small changes on contrast or brightness or any small rotation of cameras can make a significant change...

Re: Extended View mode VS stereo

What are you guys experience with this? I just started getting a feel and find that extended get your more per scan while i'm getting less and sketchy results from stereo. For me, in Stereo mode mesh deformation is very less and geometrical accuracy is more. but mesh is sketchy too (quality lower t...

Re: More Ranting about Davids Calibration

The more I see other configurable SL systems the more I have to wonder. With David, when calibration is perfect I can get results that are literally as good as $40k~$60K systems. However that is a big variable. I can get usable calibration easily but really good takes a lot of care. the more SL 3D ...

No. I Use two Different Cameras & Lenses (one 12mm and other 8mm). also on 8mm I should zoom camera (by software/digital zoom) to see as close as 12mm lens.

Re: Not Correct Calibration

How did you make those panels? As I posted elsewhere I just mad some 280mm panels and ran into some interesting calibration problems. I don't know if they are related but I plan to spend some time today and see if can figure out whats going on. They are made via building two accurate masks by milli...

Re: What do you do with your 3D scans?

a lot of people use their scans for 3d printing. some use them for reverse engineering, some export the stl file to their CAM software for direct manufacturing from STL and some do it as a hobby, Does anyone use DAVID here for RE & manufacturing purpose? Hi I use the software for Reverse Engine...
