Re: Low distortion Lens for 23ux236

FWIW I wonder about the need for a very good lens on the camera side (?) Stepping down the lens will use the best part of the lens and increase depth of field ( as long as the stepping is within reason). I find that a precise calibration board, a correct angle between camera and projector, good f-st...

David scanned by David - work in progress

Got this little figure at the flea market. I have found the right adjustment for the PointGrey camera and procedure: Adjust fps until minimum glowing. Then divide number by 4 and apply to shutter speed (I guess this is specific to the PointGrey driver ?). I am finally happy with the surface quality....

Re: Alignment problems

as mentioned, you can repeat many times the shrinking. If you apppy the "shave" to all scans at the same time and do it multiple times, should take less then a minute or two, depending on the amount of scans you have. Another possibility, but I have not tried it is to make a lens gobo to r...

Re: Alignment problems

One possible approach is to select all the scans, then right click and select "shrink border" (or whatever it is called. I am not in front of my computer). You can repeat as many times as you like as long as you preserve overlapping areas. Save you project before each step in case you need...

Re: Software Synchronization of Projector and Camera for Structured Light 3D

I noticed this in David 5.

See image below.

I find the software solution of the article more interesting, because more universal. I wonder what is the hardware sync they are refering too.

Re: Software Synchronization of Projector and Camera for Structured Light 3D

I have posted this on the HP site. We will see. As you say, the only possibility that this is implemented now in David would be through a specific camera driver or camera firmware. They might as well hire this guy. He gets a scan in less than a second! With nearly the same equipment as us (ok, his p...

Software Synchronization of Projector and Camera for Structured Light 3D

I came across this article.
I find it brilliant.Especially the way he determines the lag between projector and camera.
If this method was implemented in HP 3D, it would be a major leap foward.

Acer V850, real 4K projector under $ 2'500

Finally, 4K projector prices are starting to come down. Though still high.

I would be curious to see what kind of improvement this would bring to our scans....

Re: New Imaging Source Cameras

These have been avaible prior to December 2016. At the time, I purchased two Point Grey with exactly the same chip and features as this one: DMK 33UX252 DMK 33UX252 2,048×1,536 120 1/1.8 inch IMX252LLR CMOS Pregius global I was going to purchase this model because two Point Grey (Flir) cameras canno...

Re: Can David do Automatic ََAlignment?

From a previous post on the forum: With the new feature in HP V. 5.1: "Align Sequence" (right-click menu on Shapefusion List of Scans), the multiple select if even more useful. To work correctly, you can shift click (and hold shift) on the NAME of a scan and then drag your mouse up or down...
