Re: Laser Projector
Hi Scanners. Thanks for creating a sensible place to think. I was wondering if anyone has tried to use, say a sony laser projector for scanning? I am very intersted to know if it always being in focus would aid or hinder scanning? I would also expect to see better results on dark surfaces and such ...

Re: David 5 VS Flexscan3d
So the current version (3.2.2) won't work with user supplied hardware? I was hoping to try it out and see how it compared.

Re: what is the advantage of 2nd cam in David?
I have to admit that I hardly used my scanner since switching to proper industrial cameras. Still busy with to many other projects and I want to change my setup further. The classical faith of hobby projects  You can always add a second camera though, so I would start out with a single camera ...

Re: Projecting an SLS system: Scanning precision
Well, let's say I can't put anything.. I'm sorry but it's too risky. Has anybody tryied a DIY IR laser setup? Or IR LED DLP Projector? I understand. The cost of a mistake on a very valuable vintage instrument is way to high. As for the Infrared idea. the problem isn't the infrared Laser, it would b...

Re: Projecting an SLS system: Scanning precision
So theorethically an IR line laser with a IR sensible sensor (and IR-transparent optic) should work? We tried with Boron - Talc Powder: not enough resolution. For the moment it will be enough to scan unvarnished instruments or gypsuym casts. There's also spray dry shampoo. Though it is sometimes su...

Re: Projecting an SLS system: Scanning precision
Infrared lasers maybe. Creaform has a hand held that can scan black gloss plastic fairly well. It is also about $60K. Could you perhaps use a dry powder like talc? You wouldn't have to completely whiten the surface. Just use enough to make the surface a little less absorbent and less reflective.

Re: Projecting an SLS system: Scanning precision
This should be pretty easy to do. Is this your only question?
