Re: µ Rig of the week

Great work. I have this for many years (old studio days), but in storage for the moment. I cannot use it a home or go to clients with it :D That's essentially what I was going for. I'm in New York (big professional photography town [in fact my father was a pro photographer]) so anything camera rela...

Re: µ Rig of the week

Not to hijack back my own thread :D ... I built a counter balances mono stand. This is a huge improvement over a tripod in terms of flexibility. I got a fluid drag head on Ebay and built;t the rest. the counterweight is a 300mm long piece of 1080 steel I had to turn down to fit into the 52mmx52mm co...

Re: A Few Words About Camera Lenses..

Another thought about zoom lenses that I though I should mention. You should really only need one focal length with David. A zoom actually doesn't really offer any advantages once you figure out what the proper focal length for your system should be. Ideally the camera image will be exactly the proj...

Re: A Few Words About Camera Lenses..

So how would this pairing go with either the DMK 23UX174 or DMK 23UX236 Worth a try? I like the idea of variable focal length as I have no idea what the norm is. From what I can gather they will never be as "sharp" as monofocal Lens. Screen Shot 2017-01-24 at 9.54.20 pm.png Zoom lenses ar...

Re: A Few Words About Camera Lenses..

The sensor size mentioned in a lens datasheet mainly says how large is the area that can be illuminated evenly by the lens. so any lens that is designed for a larger sensor than yours should be fine. Good point. I forgot to mention That usually a lens for a larger format sensor will work with a sma...

A Few Words About Camera Lenses..

The more I started looking and learning about camera lenses the more I realized just how much there was to know when making a truly informed decision about which lens to use. Quickly, Lenses are another good example of "you get what you pay for". Like everything, Lenses are a system and wi...

Re: Stayin Alive, Stayin Alive!

Since you posted, you know you are going to get questions. Your looking for trouble. 1) Resolution of camera ? I hope that is not TOP SECRET. Approximate pixel value would already be helpful. 2)What do you mean by "When the calibration is on" ? That a precise calibration has been successf...

Stayin Alive, Stayin Alive!

I ran an experiment mucking about with David 5 Vs 4, and with a different camera that was loaned to me for a day. I scanned an engine cover that I scanned a while ago so I could compare the results. Here is what I found: Here's the old scan with HD camera but 720p projector.. Smart Timing Cover oldC...

Re: Projector and Camera Syncing

Does anyone have a David 4 License that they would be willing to sell/trade? I am going to call HP tomorrow but I am not too optimistic about what will happen. Thanks. Unfortunately when you update to David5 all you get is a file that updates your existing USB dongle. So unless someone wants to com...
