Structured light using a roller shutter camera

Hi !
I wonder if any of you has seen this article: https://www.spar3d.com/news/software/vo ... d-scanner/
it is an open source software for structured light scanning using a camera with rolling shutter, in other words, practically any camera, a DSLR, a smartphone.
Here you find an article from that university: https://news.brown.edu/articles/2015/12/3dscan
Has anyone built such a 3d scanner ? I am very curious as I would love to build a scanner using a comercial projector and a consumer grade DSLR camera.
Thanks
