Hi, I'm considering the first SLS setup for scanning fingernails (150x200x20 mm zone) with high precision
I've found quite attractive offer from TI (4K projector for $1K) https://www.ti.com/tool/DLPDLCR471TPEVM
And thinking about suitable cameras for such kind of setup. Do you have any considerations?
The goal is to get 0.01mm accuracy for scanning, but I understand that it could require quite a lot of work and software development

For what you expect , It depends on whether the timing of a shot is important to you or not.
If NOT ; dslr cameras are good. ( canon , nikon ...) And of course you will not need a special software and its development.
Approximate time for one shot : 20 s.
MIN hardware req for processing :
Os : win10 64bit
Cpu : core i7
Ram : 64gb
Graphic card : nvidia quadro
And to achieve the accuracy you want : a good calibration pannel and a good calibration.
And finally the big challenge is the light reflection and controlling by using the color of light and special lenses.

I'm trying to choose between Daheng IMX183 (20mp, 19fps, 1", mono) and IMX226 (12mp, 32fps, 1/1.7", mono) cameras. DSLR+lens for the same resolution looks like not the best option for the same price (with low distortion lens)
I fully understand that the processing will require the bunch of resources, so the system requirements are ok

Accuracy is related to resolution, which depends on tb dimension of the field of view, the camera and projector resolution, errors etc..
If your field of view is 10 mm, an HD camera divide it roughly in 2000. So your resolution is 0.005 mm. But that's not accuracy.

Which software are you going to use? Hp3d?
If your field of view is 10 mm, an HD camera divide it roughly in 2000. So your resolution is 0.005 mm. But that's not accuracy.

What I find interesting is the high frame rate at 1920x1080 (240hz).
That would be nice if you can sinc with global shutter cameras at 120 Hz with a software such as flexscan.
I don't think it's a 4k monochrome projector, but it's a full HD good one.

According to the specs it can go up to 60Hz at 4K. I can hardly see any evidence that 4K is not the native resolution

As I read in the article, true 0.66" dmd with resolution 2716X1528 are available:

but it's not the dmd used by the example you mentioned in this post.

IT's called pixel shifting. It is similar to pixel averaging in that it allows an HD pixel array to simulate a 4K resolution. Still I think it was worth to discover the 0.66" chip and that the shifted pixels gives you half the contrast. Which is very important for us.
