Advanced Texture Scanning In FlexScan3D

Post by greenskynet »

To have excellent texture photos, during taking photos we must avoid any shadows on the object. So we need specialized lighting during texture photography which conflicts the lighting of the 3D scanning. In this case, to cover this problem, we separately take the texture photo under customized condition, then reset the condition to the 3D scanning state and continue the scanning process. All of these process will be controlled automatically by the software.

I've developed a new function for the FlexScan3D to trigger an external flash light and also control the timing of illumination to take perfect texture photos for color 3d scans.
FlexScan3D automatically turns on the flash light in advance according to a preset delay, then it take the texture photo and finally it turn off the flash light.
You can use the triggering signal to control any flashes. here I used a 220v light source, controlled by a electro-mechanical relay.

Here I'm intentionally using a slow flash light, so you can clearly sense the effect of the flash triggering timing.

Beside of the two cameras dedicated for 3d scanning, FlexScan3D can use a third camera for advanced texture capturing too.
in modified version of FlexScan3D you can use any cameras for capturing texture to have color 3D scans. You can use professional DSLR cameras, or Compact photography cameras, or even you can use small office webcams.
