I can't do that right now. But I will it give it a try when possible.
I would do it with a 30 cm calibration pane and not a 1 m one.
Is that what you are interested in ?
When looking at Micr0 scans, I think some of the engines or parts are 1 m wide (?).

Yes, my parts are mostly long and the width is much smaller than lenght.
Do you align your scans using contact pair or manual sequence?
I can only get usable results if i do contact pair.

you can see the dimensions here, scanned using sphere markers, then removed in post-prosessing.

Before you sell the PointGrey cameras see if you can get a copy of FlexScan3D to try. It doesn't support IS cameras but does support the PointGrey

i need your help for using the point grey camera.i have got some point grey camera like :fl2,fl3,graschopper.I've been tried with all David software like david3,david4,david5..but all of them can not detect the point grey camera.
could you please help me to resolve that problem!
i did as Sven's instructed from David forum but still can not detect point grey camera.

1. Go to your DAVID folder, subfolder "logs"
2. Delete your "CameraLogfile.txt"
3. Start DAVID and try to connect to the camera
4. Close DAVID

Hi,
You must in install the FULL Flycapture SDK (download from Point grey).
During installation, you must select "complete"
Then select at one point "directshow driver".
Once the installation is finished, you should see the PG camera within David.
Because of the weak implementation of the Directshow driver, once in David, you must select another camera (David 4) or select OFF (David 5) and open flycapture to make the adjustments to the camera. Then close Flycapture and start camera within David.
From Flycapture, you can save the settings in the camera memory

going to through your first post again, 34 scans for a rather small statue is too many i believe, of course you set the quality check at 0.6 which is higher than normal and ignores much of the scanned data in hope of a higher quality scan.
did you have time to scan a larger object? I'd try my luck with Flexscan as you have pt-grey camera and it can detect targets to use as auto alignment helpers. that significantly shortens alignment time.

Since I used a small calibration panel, I scanned legs, torso and head separately. Plus a few scans from above and below.
Each scan is less than 4 seconds + processing time = approx 15 minutes for the 34 scans.
I don't find that 34 is a lot. It's normal.
With Walther's turntable, it is quick. And alignment is usually fast. In this case, there were no problems.
I have not tried anything large for the moment.

Yes, that's correct.
I set the FPS to 59.846
The shutter to: 15.10ms
The PointGrey software has an "absolute mode" for the input which is 1 by 1 incremental.
I set FPS to 60, then switch to absolute mode and fine tune until the least glowing effect.
I turn off absolute mode, set shutter to 15 ms, return to absolute mode and fine tune.
Finally, all is saved in the camera memory.
The only thing I need to adjust every time I start David is YUY2 with RAW8, for some reason, this increases the fps grab rate (?).

For imaging source cameras, shutter speed(exposure) is controllable in david and can't be "fine tuned". It only swtches between preset values. Also the fps, cannot be fine tuned.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
