Did you scanned flat on the turntable?

Yes, the coin was lying on the turntable, each side was scanned at an angle (to capture the end surface too), after which the two groups of scans were manually aligned.

P.S. The previous scan with the "teddy bear" souvenir was assembled from three "full-turn" scans on a turntable, plus several single scans to capture hard-to-reach areas.

A couple of my last scans - a wrench

and screwdriver (this model has "flaws" due to the fact that the spindle turned a little during the scanning process)

To place these models on the site, the scans had to be simplified to 3% of the original number of triangles.

I decided to make a new scan of the drill bit. Even after the usual simplification to 10% of the original number of triangles, the model remained of fairly good quality.

I use ScanCenter software (in the Rangevision DIY version) and a turntable, respectively, not based on Arduino (this is a custom version of the ComXim brand with a USB connection, which is produced by order of RangeVision).
P.S. At the same time, there are some options for connecting DIY tables to this software.

During the New Year holidays, I received a Revopont POP2 for a while, and decided to conduct a small comparative test with my Creality Lizard (which was half the price of POP2) and, as a kind of "starting point", a scan on my stationary SLS scanner. The plastic bust (height about 10cm) that came with POP2 was used as a test subject.

At first, I did not see any strong difference between Lizard and POP2...

But then it turned out that if I finalized the scan in RevoScan (and would not switch to RevoStudio later), then the quality of POP2 is noticeably higher, although there is still some "noise"

Also scan from RV DIY

Its surface detail, of course, cannot be compared with cheap hand-held scanners based on IR illumination.

P.S. A little later, in the RV DIY software, I combined a scan of myself (made with Lizard) with an existing sculpture from Revopoint

Thanks for sharing. I got a revo mini, and it's OK for some things. But I plan on refining my SL rig soon, but the mini is no replacement.
