Finally a worthy scan!

It was a bit of a struggle but I finally have a scan I'm proud of! There were many more before this one but they had issues and weren't worth sharing. It was quite the learning experience along the way and learned a lot! I was beginning to lose faith in my setup but now I'm fully confident that it is worth sticking to it and not go seek out other alternatives!

Excellent! Very good detail. What calibration scale did you use? Did you look at the error in the debug console?

Thanks micro! 120mm scale, RMS error of .19
I spent a bit of time getting my calibration panels to be a true 90 degrees. Out of the box they sat at 90.5...and yes, they are glass panels by HP.
Next I’m going to double check the spacing between the points on the panels...
Once the fusion process finished, I was blown away by the detail of the result. The STL file is nearly 1GB!

You can decimate that raw mesh down to about 50Mb and still keep that level of detail easily. I have taken 10Gb meshes and after decimation, cleaning and retopologizing have gotten them down to 30Mb, and the important detail is still nearly as good as the original mesh.

Nice scan Alonso,
What do you think about HP3D scan software! Does it worth it? Can the long time and effort for having good results, make it an appropiate option for offering 3d service?
What is the main use of 3d scan datta? If its for RE what software do you use?
