My new scan and reverse engineering case 😎:
it is an excavator shield.
Also I added some new features to the part to extend its lifetime and make its appearance more aggressive.

You can download the scan mesh and also the reverse engineering CAD file from: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6404174

Some other parts of the 6-parts assembly + Reverse Engineering:
All parts are scanning in Modified version of FlexScan3D, and reversed to CAD model in CATIA software.

What do you do once you have the CAD model? make molds?

they can be used for various process, like pattern making, casting, printing or direct machining.
for the last post, it will be used for metal casting (making casting patterns) and then machining.

This is my recent scan. an AL casting manifold.😎
I scanned it for reverse engineering and casting pattern design.
I will post more about this project soon.

Now modified version of FlexScan3D has native support for Daheng cameras. Very stable and fast, and there is direct access to cameras settings in the software.
