scan set up - some questions...

Post by oscarsweep »

Hi, new to the forum.
Wanted to see if the experts here could impart some advice.

I have a 3D lifelike silicone model hand that i want to scan. (its cut off at the wrist so can stand upright)

Currently i have a small auto rotating round table and i have wrapped this in green paper and set it against a green screen (so the entire frame in shot is green screen). The hand then sits on top of that rotating table and i film it on a camera mounted on a tripod.

I have filmed multiple single rotation sequences, moving the camera to different vertical angles (e.g., high, middle, low angles) and repeating the rotation process for each angle. This is to generate an accurate 3D mesh. (Its not perfect but every video is the same aspect ratio and the hand is approximately the same size in each video)

I then take each video into after effects and chroma-key the background out so essentially i have a clean uniform backdrop (black in this case) and only the rotating object is visible.

My questions are:
1. What is the best process to upload the videos into photogrammetry software? Add the videos into one sequence and upload that as one video or upload them individually?
2. Does anyone have any recommendations of the software that would elicit the best result using the technique above?
3. Am i making any fundamental mistakes with my technique?

any advice is much appreciated.
cheers
