I started using the LG.
I have to say that my time is limited, so I just plugged and played a bit.
Focus is strange: acts like an electronic control, not hard stuff.
I found the projector brightness on the low side, OK for small objects.
I made a scan of a top and a back+ribs of a violin.
160 mm home-made melamine board, RMS over 0.20.
Ikea turntable (not yet motorized, timing belt is arriving), 32 scan/revolution
Very happy about alignment: after seeing Martan results uging turntable (speed and accuracy) I moved to this approach.
Precision: I would like to have deviations of no more than 0.1mm in thickness, but still we are in the range of 0.2.
I thinks it's better than K132 in terms of quality of the outer part of the scan. Alignment seems better than before.
I put the scanner in portrait mode, and rotate the boards lenghtwise.
Objects is 350 mm long, average of 2-3 mm thick.

That looks very promising. Excellent alignment. Since you seem to be getting such accurate scans, can you try scanning that piece with fewer individual scans? The topology of the violin is fairly simple so you should be able to reduce the number of individual scans you need. that may also help with the surface quality. Please keep us posted a on tweaking things I look forward to hearing about your results.

one other request: Can you measure the minimum distance you can focus the projector to, and the size of that image at the minimum focus? The PF1500 can produce an image that I can use with 100mm calibrations but it is far too bright (I have to put -4 ND filters on my cameras). I'd eventually like to get a projector I can use at a 60mm or smaller scale.

About the Hardware:
is this result with the projector straight out of the box?
How close you can get from the object with this "Eletronic Focus"?
About the Results:
The bumbs on the mesh, are they from the natural wood imperfections?
...and could you share what camera and lens are you using?

Could you confirm that you can focus closer than 790mm?

In addition to indicating the minimum focusing distance, I would also ask for the size of the resulting projection at this distance.

Hi there,
these wood surfaces are not easy to scan.
a lot surface textures (tool traces, wood rings, my work, intentional) but also wood has different refraction index according to the direction.
(That's why we love real wood and recognize instantly fake wood panels in furniture.)
So a part of the "humpiness" is due to the object.
same cameras and lenses as Martan, more or less the most expensive DAVID CAM:

One interesting thing is that I made the scan running with its battery.
I just need to learn how to miracast it, and I'll get rid of the hdmi cord. At least I hope it's possible.

I would like to compare it to the PF1500.
A trial from Amazon could be a good option.
