New DIY turntable

Post by martan »

I made the openscan turntable earlier in this year. Fun to build but not much use for me....

What I have missed for a long time is a slightly larger turntable that can handle a lite more weight.
I looked in the garage what I had and designed with the parts I found. Cost was close to zero.
Some 3D-printed parts and the plate from the "IKEA Snurra" . Arduino Uno with Stepper Shield.

It works fine :-)

Clean and elegant!
As usual :-)

I'm waiting for a wheel bearing Hub to build my heavy duty turntable. They are cheap and can load more than I need.

things like this with two flanges:

Really nice. Did you 3D print the gears?

Yes, the gears are printed.
If someone wants STL/STEP-files, just give me a shout. All is done quickly and very dirty

Rain today. Wasn't really plesed with the motion - it felt a bit jerky.

The stepper-driver from the Openscan Project was really smooth so I took the circuitboard from this.

Adjusted the code slightly and made sure that I got 18 degrees between scans. It suceeded I think.

@Mading, using a wheel bearing from a car is brilliant!

For cylindrical or repeating elements - a turntable with an exact angle of rotation is a very useful thing.

P.S. In my first table (from the Ciclop laser scanner), a bearing 16014 was used, with an inner diameter of 70 mm and an outer diameter of 110 mm

P.P.S. Unfortunately, I can’t use the new table from RangeVision yet, because the program has not yet implemented support for my cameras.

I'm really lazy when it comes to draw gears.
I was supposed to draw timing belt gears to couple with the wheel bearing, but everything is in the "to-do-list".

My CAD-program made the gears for me.... a few clicks away.

Another solution is to download models from solidcomponents.com for example. I know Mädler has a complete-CAD-catolog...

@ OBNRacerMan, that looked neat indeed :-)

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm a long time basic Rhino user. Never put the effort on scripts or GH.

Yes, OBNRacerMan did a great job!
