I can only speak about the AAXA. The P7 can focus down to a very small image. However it has a relatively short throw which makes positioning the cameras nearly impossible.Lumberbill wrote: ↑15 Mar 2021, 17:13 Hello

My experience:
LG PF50: good for medium sized object. Battery makes it practical for a few scan. Unable to scan small object unless you move the lens forward (see my old post about it).
LG HF60: should be a rebranding of PF1500. One of the best option according to many users. Brightness is good for bigger stuff. Can be too much for small stuff.
Both are 1920x1080, square pixels.

For both the LG you will need to put cameras above the projector when scanning small stuff. Using longer focal lengths makes you loose resolution of projected fringe (projected pixel size gets bigger and you loose the advantage of a fullHD projector).
If you find a suitable replacement lens with longer focal length probability the LG PF50 it's the most promising for small stuff.

The problem with macro scanning is no longer the minimum distance a projector can focus on, but its throw rate. I explain why the option of scanning from a close distance is not very successful - the shorter the distance, the smaller the field of focus of both the projector and the cameras. This can (to some extent) be fought by setting a semblance of aperture on the projector, and "holding down" the apertures of the cameras .. but with a large loss of light flux.
In my opinion, replacing the projector lens looks much more optimal so that it can give a small projection field from a relatively large distance - therefore, personally, I think the path taken by the creators of MechScan is more correct.
