car key

Post by mading »

For fun, but also for printing a new car key case.
Manual turntable, putty for alignement, white acrilic spray.

some parts are missing, but I'm going to reverse everything.
RMS 0.23 0.45 (arrrggghh..) but the original david panels I received is not properly manufactured, and a great delusion.
Dealer said that the problem is with custom HW.
I have better results cnc printing on wood melamine panels... (0.11, 0.13) on 160 and 240 mm panels.

In this situation, I'm happy about the scan time, alignment and results.
It tooks me three series, and about 1 hour.

And here I worked with the same set-up, but with melamine wood panels (160mm).

After a first alignement of the scans, I crop the outer part of them.
I realized that those objects can deform quite a lot when manipulated.
So it's not just a problem of scan accuracy, you also have to take into account the wood "movements".

The violin back looks like good calibration/scan meshing.

Regarding the David cal panels, I always wondered how exactly they were made. I didn't start getting >.20 RMS error in calibrating till I made panels on the VMC. A fairly new VMC that had had a true positional accuracy of ~.0002". I've made a number of panels before and since using everything from a servo driven Vinyl plotter to laser printers and haven't had nearly as good a calibration. Any thoughts? I Guess this should be a stand alone thread...

So at the moment im getting 0.25 and 0.30 RMS
Is it only how the calibration panel is made that affects this result ?
