Old cameras are 5MP, new ones are 6.3MP. However, he made scans with a new camera in a resolution of 1600 * 1200 (just so as not to scan the “emptiness” around the coin (it only takes up a small part of the frame))
But this does not affect the resolution of the object, since it has as many camera pixels.

Well, as I expected, you need to get used to every serious camera. It is because of the completely different working settings (and their number, including). As a result, I “defeated” the new camera, having achieved the result, at least - not worse (but much faster). The only thing is that since I, so far, have used the mount bracket from the dismantled right “red” camera as the basis (and because of the slightly larger matrix the field of view has increased), I could only calibrate in 5MP mode (and lower) - I need a camera move closer to the table.
Compared to the old 5MP camera, the new coin (even in exactly the same resolution) took up less space (due to the increased viewing angle). But stable 63fps (in full resolution 6.3MP - 59fps)

The same 30mm calibration scanned an old toothbrush. There are also “inconsistencies”, especially on the smooth end face of the battery compartment - there is nothing to “catch on” for a good “addition”. Also, the rotary head dangles freely - therefore, when scanning from different angles, it occupied a random position.

Today (though the scanner was configured for a relatively large, 50mm calibration table), it was able to “capture” a miniature silver souvenir (33mm high, blackened silver and gilding).

Old cameras to do this, at least more or less tolerable - I couldn’t get the word "no way."

So, despite the price of the MindVision SUA630M camera - it’s justifying itself for the campaign :D

Those are pretty good results considering how dark/shiny the surfaces are. Have you done a side by side comparison of the old and new cameras? As in using them both for the same scan in extended mode? not sure how that would work but might be worth a try.

Hi. I tried (but did not take any screenshots) simultaneous scanning with the new and old ("red" YW500U3 Camera) - it works. I was not satisfied with the scanning speed, which is determined by the slowest camera (and 500U3 is not higher than 16.7fps in full 5MP resolution). Also, 12mm lenses give a different capture field (due to the difference in the size of the matrices). Therefore, I left only one new 6.3MP camera as part of the scanner.
P.S. After the New Year, I want to buy another 6.3MP camera (I hope that I will get enough money to buy it).
P.P.S. Maybe (just for the report) I’ll try to repeat and show the results with two (old and new cameras)

Well done!
Do you use the Byintek UFO R9?
I was wondering which lenses do you use with the 6.3MP cameras: 16mm?

Yes - projector Byintek UFO R9. Camera lens - 12mm (I used them starting with 1/2 "UCMOS3100KPA camera, and the next few cameras with a 1/2.5" matrix (in that case, due to the small matrix, the lenses were closer to 16mm)) In the new camera, the 1/1.8 "matrix - so it turns out about 14mm.
I recall, that these lenses are rated at 12mm with a "big" 2/3 "sensor.

P.S. I also want to note - that cameras with such lenses are well suited to the geometric size of the image displayed by this projector. But if you have to put cameras in front of the projector, then I would look at 8mm lenses.

Thanks.
I guess you are tilting the cameras for a specific purpose.
For riducing the artefacts due to the diamond pixels?
