Artec Spider - David Comparison.

Post by Micr0 »

I met someone online with an Artec Space Spider and he agreed to scan a couple of hardware pieces so we could compare scans. The two pieces are, one cast iron, and one stamped steel cabinet pull. They are each about 80mm - 100 mm long. Here are screen grabs of the results:

Time to scan those 2 pulls including align and fuse in David: ~30min.
Time to scan both pulls with the Spider including process in Artec Studio 14: ~5min

Nice comparison!

Big difference in time!
I would scan more if it was a faster process than with my setup.

Despite the much faster process, Artec seemed a little weaker in quality.
And if you look at the prices of this equipment ... then I will choose David.

The price point comparison is pretty big when you think about how much work you need to do.
You STILL need to do some work right? with everything?

What kind of work has to be done? This seems pretty complete to me, honestly. Maybe I'm missing something...
