23UX236

Post by _jack_ » 14 Jan 2019, 09:54

Good morning to everyone and specifically to 23ux236 users,
after some evaluations I bougth a 23UX236, at the end.
It is very fast, high frame rate and it is very precise but I have a trouble in my structure scanning setup using david 4.5.3.1374 and window 10: very ofter this camera freeze, stopping to send photograms to David... so I must disconnect and reconnect the camera because the scanning process freeze.
I'm using a notebook with 3.0 usb ports but with a common usb 3 cable, not a specific imaging source 3.0 cable.
Could be this cable represent a problem ? (I tried different pc and different 3.0 common cable but the problem remain) ... or I am missing something in the setup ?
Thank you in advance for the answer.

I have a couple of them.
Sometimes one of the two freezes. I ended up using 30 fps all the time (I work in Stereo), sometimes 15 fps is necessary in order to avoid freezing.
I use one IS cable and one non-original both 3 m cables (similar quality).
I suggest a good cable.

I also have 2 of this camera and have seen the freezing problem.

I agree it is a bit "cable sensitive" and I usually keep the projector cable as far
from the camera cables as possible. I think it helps.

On the other hand I discovered massive USB3 problems when I bought VR Headset (Oculus Rift)
and the solution for the Oculus was PCIe USB3 Card. I bought the Inateck-card from some ebay-store.
The key to success in this case was to set the correct PCIe-generation in BIOS. The Inateck card is a Gen 2 PCIe
and my mother board supports Gen 3. Setting it "hard" to use Gen 2 (and not "Auto") för the PCIe slot in question was the key.

I used my IS-cameras as indicator in this matter - when acheiving full speed of 54,5fps from both
connected cameras the Oculus also functioned perfectly.

In the case of laptop, try to keep projector/camera cables separate. Simple test.

Thank you, Mading and Martan, very much for the answer and the help, so I tried a manual setting (1920X1200 27 fps grb24) and this configuration seem to be stable.
Probably in my PCs due to its relative old architecture, even if it has usb 3 ports there are some trouble in managing the high rate 54 fps.
thank you again !

as a side note: maybe strange, but turning off the texture acquisition make the camera signal more stable ...
